A. Leon Hutchinson, Sr., of Oak Hill, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Bert Fish Medical Center. A native and lifetime resident of Oak Hill, except for his service in the U. S. Coast Guard, Mr. Hutchinson retired as a supervisor for the Florida East Coast Railway after a 32 year career. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oak Hill; an avid hunter and fisherman; and a life member of the New Smyrna Beach Gun Club. As a young man, he played for the Oak Hill Possums softball team.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Dorothy Lee; 3 sons, Albert, Jr. (Anita) of New Smyrna Beach, Johnny (Charlene) of Oak Hill, and Joel (Catherine) of League City, Texas; 2 daughters, Brenda (Gary) Geiger of Oak Hill, and Pam (Ben) Davis of Edgewater; 11 grandchildren, Chad Hutchinson, Corey Davis, Ronnie and Roger Luznar, Keith, Brian, and Gage Hutchinson, Kellee McNulty, Nicki Payne, Megan Geiger, and Ellen Hutchinson; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Mack and Minnie Lee Hutchinson, and 12 brothers and sisters.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 31 at the First Baptist Church of Oak Hill, with Pastor Emerson Bolton, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until service time.
