Barbara Root Obituary

Born on the 5th of July 1928.

Bobby, lover of life and family has made her final journey. She was received into paradise on March 1, 2018.

She enjoyed a true-life storybook marriage to Walter Clarke Root III (Wally) and is survived by her two, devoted sons, Walter Clarke Root IV and William Sessions Root, D.C. (and his wife Ellen). She was a doting grandmother to Megan Root Carmon, Samantha Root Taylor and Kevin and Brian Root. She was also great grandmother to Nate Carmon, Austin and Ava Taylor. She enjoyed a deep relationship with her beloved sister Dorothy Sessions Bornhoeft and her numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Bobby now enjoys a blissful reunion with her brother Stephen Sessions and daughter-in-law Shirley Holden Root and all the other dear family members and friends that went before her.

Everyone that knew Bobby understands that they had a friend in someone that brought a special light into their lives. Whether it was friends from the Small Church Community that she co-moderated for many years through St. Gerard’s Mission Church or the watercolor club at Edgewater Landing where she developed her talent as an amazing artist, everyone shared a deep and mutual affection. She was often considered the hub of the wheel, the strength of the keel and the glue on the bandaid. Bobby always had time for those in need and never made them feel small because of their circumstances.

Fascinated by nature, light and life, Bobby never did anything half way. Whether it was a family meal, a painting or just making herself “presentable” she loved to fuss for others sake. Her kitchen was as jammed with gourmet ingredients as her walls were with pictures of family and watercolors.

She was blessed to be living with her companion, Rocky whose bulging, wall eyes, protruding bottom fang and protective nature endeared him to her. A shih tzu’s devotion was as strong as the rest of her friends.

Wally and Bobby traveled the world, making friends and spreading their faith and joy where ever the Lord lead them. On his stone Walter had written,

What experience have we left undone?
I can’t for the life of me, think of one.

The Roots may have felt that their lives would be completed by their passing but their legacy of generosity and loving will live on with our memory of this remarkable couple.
