Christine D. Hogan

Christine D. Hogan, age 90, of Port Orange, died Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Solaris Health Care, Daytona Beach.

Born in Atlanta, GA, in 1926 to Thomas and Grace Estes Daniell, Mrs. Hogan and her late husband, John, moved to Port Orange about thirty years ago.  She and her beloved husband of 66 years were devoted to their church, Westminster By-The-Sea Presbyterian Church.

During World War II, she was employed by a company that explained to her, when the men returned from war, they would take the jobs occupied by women.  She felt honored to serve in this way during time of war.  Then, she subsequently got employed in the auto industry.  She advanced to be an executive secretary, and then was an active retiree.

Mrs. Hogan loved volunteering in the library, cheering on the Atlanta Braves, and writing cherished letters to family and friends.

Survivors include her sister-in-law, Jo Ann Daniell of Douglasville, GA; niece, Pamela (Gene) Hayes of Atlanta, GA; nephew, Ray (Ali) Daniell of Douglasville, GA; and three great-nieces, Jessica Christine Hayes of Atlanta, GA, and Rachel and Andie Kate Daniell of Douglasville, GA.  She is preceded in death by her late husband, John, and her brother, Thomas H. Daniell, Jr.

A memorial service will be at 10:00 on Thursday morning, September 29, at Westminster By-The-Sea Presbyterian Church, Daytona Beach Shores.   The Reverend Dr. Jeffrey A. Sumner will officiate.
