Dottie Smith peacefully passed away on April 28, 2017. She leaves behind her husband, Don Smith, after 47 years of marriage. She also leaves behind her loving daughter, Susanna, son-in-law, Jason, and wonderful granddaughter, Morgan, who Dottie helped to cultivate a love for baking. Morgan affectionately referred to Dottie as Cami. She also leaves behind many family members and a close circle of friends, who she cherished.

She was born May 1, 1946 in Pennsylvania, to parents, John & Dorothy Drabic, who preceded her in death. The family moved to Orlando in 1956. After graduating in 1968 from the University of Florida, she taught in Seminole County at Casselberry and Spring Lake Elementary Schools and Teague Middle School. She concluded her 30 years of service at Greenwood Lakes Middle School.

Dottie enjoyed being a retired wife and developed a keen interest in taking photos and creating slide shows on her computer. She used her time to volunteer at Ocean View Nursing Home, being a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and an active member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Smyrna Beach. She was also most fond of the beach and traveling to Aruba.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 5, 2017 at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home with Pastor David Rike and the Reverend Roger Prehn, Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating. Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. A private entombment at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens will immediately follow the service.
