Eleanor Beatrice Bump, age 92, of Rockledge, died Monday, July 10 2017 just short of her 93rd birthday to be July 29th; at Market Street Viera Assisted Living Facility, Melbourne.
Born in Adirondack, New York; Ms. Bump came to this area, in 1985, from Schenectady, New York. A retired computer programmer, she worked as a communications assembler during World War II and for General Electric for 45 years. Eleanor loved animals and always had a dog, was an avid reader, loved history, and liked playing golf, gardening and traveling. She had a dry sense of humor and there was a time that she painted her 1936 Plymouth with a paint brush. Over the years, she acquired a collection of glass marbles, paper weights, nutcrackers, and post cards. An active member of First United Methodist Church in New Smyrna Beach, Ms. Bump also volunteered at Bert Fish Medical Center, as a ‘pink lady’.
Survivors include nine nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles “Ted” Bump and Bertha Jones Bump, and six siblings, of which she was the youngest.
A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 22, at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home, officiated by family. A gathering will follow the service from 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
