Evelyn L. Sutton, 88, of New Smyrna Beach, died Sunday, September 17, 2017.
Born and raised in New Smyrna Beach, Mrs. Sutton was a lifelong resident of this area. Evelyn was a retired restaurant manager and was very active in her community. She started a bereavement group called “Got to Believe” at Glencoe Baptist Church; was a member of the Old-Timers’ Club; and she and her husband, H.Q., were founding members of the Sandspur Riding Club. Evelyn enjoyed the theater, movies, music, and liked a pretty yard. Always with a sparkle in her eye; she had a smile for everyone.
Survivors include her three daughters, Dede (Rudy) Pleterski, Judi Johns, and Cindy (Greg) Akin, all of New Smyrna Beach; three grandsons, Richard (Billie Jean) Johns, Jason (Dayl) Johns, and Jacob (Beth) Johnson; two granddaughters, Shelby Wheeler and Sommer Akin; four great-granddaughters, Cheyenne, Savannah, Cameron and Cora; two great-grandsons, Quinton Johns and Ezra Johnson; three great-great grandchildren, Ryder, Claire, and Levi; sister, Leona Cook, of New Smyrna Beach; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, General Frank and Artie Ricks Norman; her husband of 57 years, H.Q.; and brothers, W.R. Norman and Toby Norman.
Funeral service at the graveside will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 22, 2017, with the Reverend Jean Rice officiating, at Edgewater-New Smyrna Cemetery.
