Gary Allen Carlson, age 66, of Port Orange, died Saturday, February 17 at Halifax Health Hospice, Port Orange, of Bile duct cancer. Gary was born in Astoria, Oregon, November 26, 1951.
After retirement Gary and his wife wintered in the Port Orange area. They spent summers in Delhi, Iowa. They loved being on and around the water and did much traveling which they both enjoyed.
He was a retired welder with John Deere, UAW Local 838 Waterloo, Iowa; United States Navy Veteran, VFW Post 3282, Port Orange and AMVETS in Port Orange and Cedar Falls, Iowa. He attended Port Orange Presbyterian Church and United Methodist in Delhi,
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; daughter, Melissa (Doug) Anderson of Chandler, Arizona; grandchildren Dalton Anderson and Dakota Anderson and son, Brad (Catherine) Carlson of New Smyrna Beach; grandchildren, Summer Carlson and Callen Carlson, and sister, Vicky (Steve) Bunger of Waterloo, Iowa; a large extended family and many friends.
Preceded in death by his parents Don and Joann.
Memorial service will be 10 AM, March 23rd, 2018 at Port Orange Presbyterian Church, Clyde Morris with Pastor Calvin Gittner officiating. Celebration of life gathering will be held June 8, 4 PM at Cedar Falls Amvets, 1934 Irving St.
