Geoffrey “Jeff” Hill Applegate, age 78, of New Smyrna Beach, died Friday, March 2 at Florida Hospital New Smyrna. Born in Richmond, Virginia, Jeff came to this area in 2005 from Beaufort, South Carolina. He was retired from the real estate development industry.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; three daughters, Kathryn Applegate Duffer of Brentwood, Tennessee, Anne Shelton Applegate of Ponce Inlet, Florida and Elizabeth Applegate Gillispie of Chesterfield, Virginia; a sister, Mary Martin of Bon Air, Virginia; and three grandchildren, Sarah Mills of Raleigh, North Carolina, McKinley and Rosalie Duffer of Brentwood, Tennessee.
Mass of the Resurrection will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 10 at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, Bon Air, Virginia with the Reverend Jeunee Godsey officiating, with entombment following in Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 9 at Bliley’s Funeral Home, 6900 Hull Street Road, Richmond, Virginia.
Celebration of Life in New Smyrna Beach will be announced at a later date.
