Joan Mae Cecil

Joan M. Cecil, age 87, of Edgewater, died Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Halifax Health Hospice, Edgewater.  Born in New Martinsville, West Virginia, Joan came to the area in 1984 from her birthplace.  She was a hair stylist in West Virginia and assistant and hair stylist at Cathy’s Boulevard Salon in Edgewater for 10 years.

Joan was a member of First Christian Church, New Martinsville, West Virginia, and was very artistic. She made beaded jewelry and enjoyed doing leaded glass work, stained glass and shopping through catalogs.

Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Charles; son, Gary (Carolee) Cecil of Martinsville, West Virginia; daughter, Cathy (Dave Tyree) Kasper of Edgewater; 6 grandchildren, Casey Kasper, Tina (Jonathan) Urum, Drew Cecil, Taylor Cecil, Emma Cecil and Brooke Cecil; 3 great granchildren, Sky Cecil, Blaze Cecil and Parker Cecil; 2 brothers, Don (Shirley) Newman and Ron (Viola) Newman; 2 sisters, Marilyn Yoho and Jackie Boyd; daughter in law, Sandy Cecil, of Edgewater.  She was preceded in death by her son, Charles “Charley” Cecil.
