Marylyn R. Shaw

Marylyn Shaw of New Smyrna Beach, died Thursday at home.  Born in Burlington, Vermont, Marylyn came to this area in the 1970s from Coral Gables.

During her working life, she was an executive secretary, first for Burdine’s Department Stores in Miami, and locally with Doug Ruedlinger and Charlie Cobb Insurance.  She was a former member of Smyrna Yacht Club, and was an active fund-raiser for the American Cancer Society.

A truly glamorous and witty lady, known for her sporty cars and immaculate clothes, she enjoyed social events, especially those related to betterment of the community, such as Horsing Around for the Atlantic Center for the Arts, the annual Charity Ball, and Kiwanis fund-raisers.

Survivors include her son, David Cline and wife, Ann, of Newberry; a daughter, Diana, of Los Angeles, California; a sister, Jaci Rosenberg and husband, Joseph Burton, of Atlanta, Georgia; two grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Shaw, and her parents, Ruth and James Dubie.

A celebration of her life will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 5 at Settle-Wilder Chapel, with the Reverend Mark Spivey officiating.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until service time.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society SE Florida, 1737 N. Clyde Morris Blvd., Suite 140, Daytona Beach, FL  32117, or the American Heart Association, Greater Southeast Affiliate,  P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284.
