Maxine Tucker

November 20, 1935 ~ July 18, 2016 (age 80) 80 Years Old

Maxine Tucker, age 80, of New Smyrna Beach, died Monday, July 18, 2016 at her residence.

Born in Lafayette, GA, Maxine graduated from Chester High, Chester, South Carolina in 1954 where she was a majorette and basketball player. She worked in the Bradford County school system from 1968 to 1972. She moved to New Smyrna Beach in 1972 where she worked for Earnest Cobb Realty and later taught school at Faulkner Street Elementary. Maxine loved the arts and performed in local theaters from 1968 to 1972. Mrs. Tucker's entrepreneurial skills lead her to create Maxine's Cleaning Business where she owned and operated from 1981 to 2009. This was Maxine's true passion and gift as she demanded the best service and dearly loved her customers. Maxine was a devoted Orlando Magic fan. She attended several Orlando Magic games and you could hear her screams over all other fans. Her motto in high school was, "she may be small but she's heard by all." Maxine was a devoted Christian who loved her family dearly and was an amazing wife and mother. She touched us for what seemed like a brief moment, sharing her gifts of love and compassion and we are better because of her. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her two sons, David Tucker of New Smyrna Beach and Bill (Rebecca) Tucker of Mart, TX; daughter, Geri Rogers  of Warner Robins, GA; grandchildren, Houston and Georgeanna Tucker of Mart, TX; and sister, Toni (Crawford) Bean of Chattanooga, TN. Preceding her in death were her parents, Lawrence and Frances (Parris) Miller; her husband of 36 years, Gerald; and three sisters, Jeri Raines, June Chastain, and Barbara Yarbrough.

A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home, with The Reverend Donald Shobert officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in Mrs. Tucker’s name to the American Cancer Society SE Florida, 1737 N. Clyde Morris Blvd., Suite 140, Daytona Beach, FL  32117.
