Nell Wright

Nell Wright, age 94, of New Smyrna Beach, died Thursday, September 21, 2016 at Oceanview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  Born in Millen, Georgia, to Otis and Vallie Cross, Mrs. Wright came to this area in 1939, from her place of birth.

A partner with her late husband, Bill, at Owens Flooring in New Smyrna Beach until her retirement, Mrs. Wright was a member and Sunday School teacher at the First Baptist Church of New Smyrna Beach and a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.  Known to all who loved her and their friends as “Mama Nell,” she had a wonderful way of listening and making each person feel like the most important person in the world.

Survivors include a son, Bill Wright, and wife, Jane, of Stone Mountain, Georgia; two daughters, Carol Anne Kelley, and husband, Arden, of New Smyrna Beach and Margaret Wright-Cleveland and husband, Art of Tallahassee; grandchildren, Katherine Lumsden and husband, Derrek, of Perry, Georgia, Mike Kelly and wife, Lorie, of Edgewater, Erin Wright of Stone Mountain, Anna, Lillian, Eleanor and Abigail Cleveland, all of Tallahassee; and great-grandchildren, Zach,  Chris and Ava Kelly, all of Edgewater, and Addison and Emma Jane Lumsden, both of Perry, Georgia.

Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, September 26, 2016 at Settle-Wilder Chapel, with the Reverend Luke McKinney, First Baptist Church of New Smyrna Beach, officiating. Interment will follow in Edgewater-New Smyrna Cemetery.  Friends may call from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home.
