Randall Runyon, age 65, of New Smyrna Beach, died at his home Saturday January 27th. Randall served in the United States Army for 22 years and was awarded the 86th Award of the Major General Nathan Towson Medallion, in 1996. He received a Certificate of Merit from the American Red Cross in 1983, signed by Ronald Reagan for his selfless and humane action for saving a victim of cardiac arrest. He was also a Civil War buff. Randall received a degree of Bachelor of Social Work at Morehead State University in Kentucky and was a member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in New Smyrna Beach and had many friends at the church. Randall was a very social person and got along with everyone. He was a sports fan, enjoyed reading and traveling. Cookie his rat terrier was always by his side.
Randall is survived by his partner of 20 years, Ron of New Smyrna Beach.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 6th at United Church of Christ, New Smyrna Beach with the Reverend Dr. Diane Langworthy. Interment will be 2:30 p.m. at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 US-1, Mims. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.,Tuesday at the church and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 5th at Settle-Wilder New Smyrna Beach chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P. O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
