LUZNAR, RONALD EDWARD

Ronald Edward Luznar, 71, of New Smyrna Beach, died Thursday, October 20, 2016. Born in Daytona Beach to Frank and Jessie Sopotnick Luznar, Ron was a lifelong resident of this area.

Mr. Luznar was a graduate of the first class at UCF in 1970. He went on to teach chemistry and physics at New Smyrna Beach High School from 1970 until 1990, where he was also a football coach. Ron was a past president at SNPJ Lodge #603 in Samsula and the owner of the Cabbage Patch from 1986 until his death.

Inducted into the National Polka Hall of Fame; he toured Europe as the leader of Polka Pals and was the Saturday host of Polka Party on WSBB for over 30 years. He also worked the family farm in Samsula; planting, harvesting and delivering vegetables.

Survivors include his 2 sons Roger Joseph Luznar (Dulcy) of New Smyrna Beach and Ronnie Edward Luznar (Michelle Ballve) of Daytona Beach; 2 grandsons, Travis and Michael Luznar; a brother, Frank Luznar (Linda) of New Smyrna Beach; 2 sisters, Mary Sanford (Jon) of Falls Church, VA and Jennifer Luznar of Samsula; a stepbrother Michael Luksan (Vickie) of Samsula; his beloved dog, Baby Doll, and a large extended family.

Funeral service will be 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 26, at the SNPJ Lodge with the Reverend Mark Spivey officiating.  Friends will be received Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until the service time at the lodge. 

“I hope you live each day with a smile on your face and a song in your heart.  Hopefully a polka or a waltz”.
