Samuel W. Wohlfort

Samuel W. Wohlfort, age 91, of Edgewater, died Friday, December 15, 2107 at Florida Hospital New Smyrna.  
 
Born in Toledo, Ohio, to John and Marie Wohlfort; Sam moved to Orlando in 1998 and then to Edgewater in 2009.  After serving in the U.S. Navy during WWII, he worked on the team that developed the curved automobile windshield and later he worked for Martin Marietta as a chemical engineer until he retired.  He was a member or the First Presbyterian Church of Orlando, the Elks lodge and the Eagles lodge, both in Edgewater. He enjoyed living life to the fullest, using the computer, and loved boating, the ocean, fishing, anything in the water and he boogie boarded until he was 89 years old.
 
Survivors include his 3 children, Mark (Sylvia) Wohlfort of Tennessee, Eric Wohlfort of Colorado, and Beth (Tim) Miller of Titusville; 1 sister, Ruth Hart of Toledo, Ohio; 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; and his fiancé, Claudia Reno, of Edgewater.  Samuel was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Betty, in 2004.
 
Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 5, 2018, at the First Presbyterian Church, 106 E. Church Street, Orlando, FL 32801, with the Reverend Becky Davis, officiating.
