Walter F. Trzaskus, age 73, of New Smyrna Beach, passed away Monday, January 29. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Mr. Trzaskus move to Casselberry in 1975, and to this area in 2006.
He proudly served in the United States Army 5th Special Forces Group and LRRP, while in Vietnam. Walt was a member of both Disabled American Veterans and National Rifle Association; a member of St. Augustine in Casselberry, attended Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Walt was always an entertainer at heart, gracing his family and friends with stories that would keep them laughing. While still living in Chicago, he played semi-pro football, once leaving there he traveled the world for business, pleasure and at times on a motorcycle.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Suzanne; daughter, Teresa Trzaskus of New Smyrna Beach; 2 sisters, Renee Trzaskus of Winter Springs and Michele Jura of New Lennox, Illinois; 2 nephews, Jason Reczynski and Jeff Jura. Walt was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Stephanie Krzystofiak Trzaskus.
Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 9 at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home with Sacred Heart Catholic Church Redemptorist Fathers officiating.
