William R. Johnston

William R. (BJ) Johnston Sr., 76, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida passed away peacefully October 24, 2017 surrounded by family. He was born September 22, 1941 in Mullens, West Virginia to Ralph and Belle Johnston. BJ and his family moved to New Smyrna Beach in 1945. 

He became an Electrician and commercial fisherman, one of the best Flounder fisherman in the area. BJ loved his Miami Dolphins, NASCAR, fishing, shrimping and spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Belle, brother Robert and nephew Robert Jr. He is survived by his wife Mary Beth, sons William Johnston Jr. (Becky), Mike Johnston (Anna), Scott Cameron, daughters Lisa Green (Rich), Sabrina Edwards (Eric), 6 grandchildren, Brittney Johnston, Kyle Johnston, Austin Green, Scotty Cameron, Savannah Cameron, Landon Edwards, 5 brothers-in-law, 5 sisters-in-law, 11 nieces and nephews, 19 great nieces and nephews and many friends who will all miss him deeply.

 Memorial service will be November 4, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home in New Smyrna Beach followed by a celebration of life gathering at Bill Jr’s, home in Edgewater, FL. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Edgewater Animal Shelter, 605 Mango Tree Drive, Edgewater, FL., 32132.
