William A Ranew

William A. Ranew, age 64, of New Smyrna Beach, died Wednesday, August 17 at home. Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts, Mr. Ranew came to this area in 1964 from Fort Walton Beach.

A master electrician and certified electrical contractor since 1984, he was a vice president and project manager for Carter Electric Company, and was on the electrical apprenticeship and training committee for the Electrical Council of Florida for 19 years. A lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed boating, fishing, kayaking, camping, traveling, and wildlife viewing.

Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Cathie; two step-daughters, Rebecca (Mark) Reeves of Kissimmee, and Jessica (Jeff) Lindstrom of Palm Bay; two brothers, Wayne (Annie Stoppelbein) Ranew and Tommy Ranew, both of New Smyrna Beach; a niece, Amanda Ranew of Edgewater; and uncle and aunt, Lloyd and Kay Ranew of Ormond Beach. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Muriel Parker Ranew.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 27 at the Settle-Wilder New Smyrna Beach Chapel, with Pastor Tim Jordon officiating. Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until time of service.
