William A. “Bill” Turner, age 93, of New Smyrna Beach, died Wednesday at home, with family at his side. Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, Bill came to this area in 1991 from Inglewood, Florida.
A Navy veteran of World War II, Bill was a retired sheet metal worker. For many years he worked as an attendant at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home. He was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church of New Smyrna Beach, where he ushered until his health failed and also a member of United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 814 for many years.
Survivors include two sons, William R. Turner and wife, Denise, of Sandia Park, New Mexico, and Gary A. Turner and wife, Sheila of Somerset, Massachusetts; and grandchildren Keith, Anson, and Donald. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Helen, in 2011, and a son, Donald, in 1991.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home with the Reverend David Hartling, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, Edgewater. Family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 9, at the funeral home.
