William J. "Mac" McClelland

December 24, 1943 ~ October 2, 2017 (age 73) 73 Years Old

William J. "Mac" McClelland II, age 73, passed away Monday Oct. 2 at Halifax Health Hospice Port Orange.  Mac was born in Salisbury, Maryland on December 24, 1943 to William and Elizabeth McClelland.

After receiving his B.S. in business management at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, Mac began a career in the chemical admixtures business with Master Builders as the Sales Manager for the Southeast U.S. from 1976 until 1982.

Following a transfer to Sacramento, California, he served as Regional Manager for Northern California and Western Nevada.

During his 33 year career with Master Builders Mac became the Western United States Paving Manager from 1988 to 1991.  From 2004 until 2009 he was the California Color Admixture Manager for the entire state of California for the color pigment program.

Master Builders was purchased by BASF in 2006. Mac retired in 2009 from BASF and moved to New Smyrna Beach, where he became a Realtor Associate with Ocean Properties.

In 2004 Mac was elected President of the American Concrete Institute of Northern California. He served as a member of the Virginia Power Boat Association and he was a member of the Carmichael California Elks Lodge. Mac was a member of the St. Peter the Fisherman Episcopal Church and Smyrna Yacht Club, where he served as Vice Commodore.

Mac is survived by his wife of 48 years, Susan Warner McClelland; two daughters, Catherine "Kit" Fitzgerald (Ryan) of Meridian, Idaho and Laura Nelson (Carl) of Midlothian, Virginia; four grandchildren, Maeve Fitzgerald, Finn Fitzgerald, Amelia Nelson and Clara Nelson; a sister, Sara Livingston (Hugh); 2 nephews and 2 nieces; and sister-in-law Jane W. Burlingame of Laurel, Delaware.

Services will be held Friday, October 13 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter the Fisherman Episcopal Church, 4220 Saxon Drive, New Smyrna Beach.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Smyrna Yacht Club Compass Fund and St Peter the Fisherman Episcopal Church.
