Donald Oliver Hendricks II, “Dancin’ Don,” 66, of New Smyrna Beach, passed away Wednesday March 24, 2021 at Advent Health New Smyrna.
A native of New Smyrna Beach, he was born June 16, 1954 to the late Donald and Shirley (Phelan) Hendricks.
Dancin’ Don was a member of the VFW Post #4250, Fraternal Order Eagles #4242, and the American Legion Post #17.
He started his dancing career at Arthur Murray Dance Studio, where he met his love... Peggy. He then became the proud owner/operator of Let’s Dance Ballroom Dance Studio in Ocala. Dancing was his passion, people would say, “whatever two people do together, he taught them how... on the dance floor.” Don had many awards throughout his 45 year career for top teacher and top studio. The salsa, rumba, waltz, and fox trot were just a few of the dances her performed. Don retired and returned to New Smyrna to care for his mother. He had a love for life, always cracking jokes and laughing. Don was the perfect party planner and loved to entertain with perfection. He enjoyed going on cruises and playing black jack slots. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Peggy, daughter; Donella Dae “D.D.” (Ralph) Balsano, of Palm Coast, 2 grandsons; Chance and Reece Balsano of Palm Coast. Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
A funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday March 29th , 2021, at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home, New Smyrna Beach with Minister Matthew McCray officiating. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
