Luz Donatila Aponte-Colon Krauser

Luz Donatila Aponte-Colon Krauser, age 90, and longtime resident of New Smyrna Beach, entered into eternal life on March 27, 2021 at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Florida.

A parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in New Smyrna, she was the beloved wife of the late Robert Krauser and devoted elder sister of Maria Luisa Aponte; Carmen Delia Aponte; Jose Ramon Aponte; Ana Aponte; Blas Aponte; Hector Enrique Aponte; Raul Aponte, and Guillermo Aponte.

Born in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico on August 20, 1930, Mrs. Krauser spent much of her professional life as a registered nurse caring for others. She was a 1952 graduate of the Fajardo District Hospital for Nursing and earned her nursing license in 1953 from the University of the State of New York. She subsequently served as a nurse in New York City, the U.S. Airforce, Broward County General Hospital in Fort Lauderdale and in private practice before retiring in 1982.

From 1956 to 1958, Mrs. Krauser served in the Air Force where she met her husband, Robert Krauser, and married on February 22, 1958. During fifty happy years together, they had three much loved children- Karl, Marian and Kurt; three beautiful grandchildren- Kyle, Kellie, Melanie and Rick and more recently, three wonderful great grandchildren -Isabella, Jazlynn and Kade. Additionally, Mrs. Krauser is survived by her cherished daughters-in-law, Paula Krauser and Janet Auz Krauser and son-in-law, Robert Dombroski.

Mrs. Krauser was a lifelong Catholic and a woman of deep faith devoted to her family, friends and community. She could also cook the best fried chicken in the world with rice, beans and fried plantains. She is already deeply missed and remembered with great fondness. Though she is gone from us now, our hearts are glad that she celebrates the joys of Heaven with Papa and all those who have gone before us. She lived a great life. Until we meet again, Love you always Nana!!

Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to the time of the service on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at the funeral home.
