Ann T. Simmons

Funeral service for Ann Treadwell Simmons, age 88, who went to be with the Lord Monday, October 9, 2017 at Halifax Health Hospice in Edgewater, will be 11:00 Friday, October 13 at First Baptist Church, Oak Hill, with the Reverend Don Shobert officiating.  Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.  A visitation will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home, New Smyrna Beach.

One of 8 children, she was born on August 11, 1929 in Shiloh to John and Eva Treadwell, and was a livelong resident of Oak Hill.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Albert Simmons, and by her parents and siblings except 1 sister, Helena Concannon-Petrocci, of New Smyrna.

During her lifetime, Mrs. Simmons was a member of the Garden Club, the Cemetery Association and the PTA, all in Oak Hill.  She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Oak Hill.  Ann was a wonderful homemaker and faithful friend to many, but her family was her greatest joy.

Ann is survived by her four sons, Gary of Ft. Pierce, Steven (Jan) of Oak Hill, Bruce (Barbara) of Mims and Duane (JoAnn) of Oak Hill; grandchildren Brian Simmons, Elizabeth Ward (Chris), Stephanie Roof (Andy), Gary Jr., and John and Jennifer Simmons; three great-grandchildren, Hunter, James and Christian; and by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Simmons’ name to First Baptist Church Awanas, 192 E. Halifax Ave., Oak Hill, FL 32759, or Halifax Health Hospice, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.
