Arthur Earl Sweeney, Jr., age 61, of Orange City, died Monday, November 26, 2018, at his residence. Born in Miami to Arthur and Gertrude Raitt Sweeney, Arthur, Jr. moved to this area 5 years ago from Connecticut.
A Sergeant First Class for the United States Army, Arthur served during Desert Storm. He went on to work at Synergy LLC, as a medical billing specialist. He was a forth degree Knights of Columbus; he enjoyed watching football, especially the Miami Dolphins, barbecuing, spending time with his family and friends, and he loved riding his motorcycle.
Survivors include his wife, Annie; 3 daughters, Eileen, Amanda and Megan Sweeney; a brother, Timothy H. Sweeney; 2 sisters, Donna M. Imre and Rita L. Waddell; 2 step-daughters, Zada Hammond and Randi Padgett; and a step-granddaughter, Luna Shreiber. Arthur was preceded in death by his son, Brian Sweeney, mother and father.
Military service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 30th at Settle-Wilder’s chapel, with a military chaplain officiating. Interment of cremated remains will be at Elkins Cemetery, Savannah, Georgia. Friends will be received on Friday, November 30th from Noon until the time of the service.
