Bradley Purdom, age 75, died Sunday, January 6 at Advent Health New Smyrna Beach. Born in Richmond, Indiana, Brad came to this area in 1995 from San Diego, California. After a 27 year career in the U. S. Marine Corps where he served in Vietnam and retired as a Master Gunnery Sergeant, Brad worked with U. S. Airways in aircraft maintenance.
Brad was a member of American Legion Post 285 in Edgewater; former Commandant of the Marine Corps League #658 Florida; Secretary of the Vietnam Veterans of America #1048; Veterans of Foreign Wars #3282; and the Hacienda Del Rio Veterans Group.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; sons, Peter Purdom of Phoenix, Arizona and Victor Purdom of Lima, Ohio; step-children, Lori Giberson and Patricia Durelli, both of North Hanover, New Jersey, and Lisa Andrusiewicz of Hamilton Square, New Jersey; a number of cousins, Caroline Keene of Elwood, Indiana and Timothy Purdom of Marion, Indiana; uncle, Bud Purdom of Warren, Indiana; aunt, Doris Kelly of Warren, Indiana; 15 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. Brad was preceded in death by his step-son, Christopher Hammell.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 11 at Settle-Wilder Chapel, with the Reverend Mark Spivey officiating. Entombment will follow in Sea Pines Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. Friday until service time.
