David Geddy

Dave Geddy, age 64, of New Smyrna Beach, died Tuesday, October 17 at home after a courageous battle with cancer.  Born in Oakland, California, Mr. Geddy came to this area in 1956 from Detroit, Michigan.

In 1991, he began his career with Traylor Brothers Inc., a major construction firm.  His first assignment was superintendent of the 49th Street Bridge in Clearwater, Florida.  He went on to oversee nine more heavy civil bridge and marine projects, and played a critical role in Traylor’s post Hurricane Katrina efforts in New Orleans.  He loved fishing, sailing, surfing, and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife, Karen; step-daughter, Jamie Sible of Moncks Corner, South Carolina; two grandsons, Joshua Rodriguez of Slidell, Louisiana, and Gage Rodriguez of Moncks Corner; one great-grandson, Ty Bender of Slidell; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.  He was beloved by Stella Dinger and Joseph Raiti.  Mr. Geddy was preceded in death by his parents, George and Florence Geddy; daughter, Gwen Geddy, and step-son Travis Michael Edward Sible.
