Donald Thomson Bolster, age 76 of New Smyrna Beach, died Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Johnson City Medical Center, Tennessee. Born in Miami, Florida to Francis Welby and Alice Thomson Bolster, Donald came to the area in 2010 from Finksburg.
A United States Army veteran, Donald worked as a Contract Specialist for Medicare and Medicaid for the United States Government. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Titusville Florida. Donald had a wonderful sense of humor and adored his grandchildren. He was a fiercely loyal and a protective husband and father. Donald was always helping others. He enjoyed making stained glass and was a bee keeper. Donald was very involved in politics. He hated the cold, yet always ended up on scout outings in the cold.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Mary; 3 sons, Christopher Bolster of Daytona Beach, Florida, John (Lindsay) Bolster of Charleston, South Carolina and Franklin Bolster of California; 1 daughter, Mary Elizabeth Bolster of Fort Pierce, Florida; 2 grandsons, Mark Brown and Jack Bolster; 1 granddaughter, Lily Bolster; 1 brother, Robert (Judy) Bolster of Ormond Beach, Florida. Also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Rachel; and daughter, Beverly Bolster.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m. Friday, August 3rd at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Reverend Francis Nelson, C.Ss.R. officiating, followed by light refreshments and a celebration of memories at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home, 406 S. Orange Street, New Smyrna Beach. A military service will commence at 1:30 p.m. at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 US 1, Mims, FL 32754.
