Erin LaValle Dimick, 79, passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Indigo Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Daytona Beach.
Erin was born on March 31, 1939 in Chicago, IL. He was a proud 1957 graduate of Lane Technical College Preparatory High School in Chicago, IL. Following his high school graduation, Erin proudly served as a United States Marine. After his service in the Marines he worked for the Yellow Pages in California.
In the summer of 1967, Erin returned to Chicago and met Sue Horn, the love of his life and business partner. Erin and Sue opened a candle factory in Chicago which was the start of their entrepreneurial life together. Erin married Sue on August 20, 1978 in Delavan, WI. In 1979 they moved to Sanford, FL and they sold their candles at various flea markets until 1981. In 1981 they began selling clothing and accessories at the Daytona Flea Market. In 2002 they moved to New Smyrna Beach and soon opened Sue Who, a clothing and accessories store in downtown New Smyrna Beach. Erin always greeted his customers with a smile and would always say, “it’s a great day in paradise”. Erin was known for his energy and ability to entertain a room of people. He was a storyteller and loved to share stories of his life’s experiences. He loved to have a good time and bring goodness and laughter to people’s lives.
He is survived by his brother-in-law, Frank Horn of Harvard, IL, his niece Jennifer (Brian) Barncard of Kenosha, WI, and many friends who were like family to him and Sue. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Sue Dimick and sister-in-law, Rosie Horn.
Erin’s family would like to thank the staff at Indigo Manor for their special love and care for Erin. And a special thank you to a dear friend who has assisted in caring for Erin since Sue’s passing in April.
