Frank H. Wagner, age 88, of Edgewater, died Monday, February 26 at the McGraw Center For Caring of Northeast Florida Community Hospice in Jacksonville. Born in Newark, New Jersey, he was raised in Irvington, New Jersey, where he resided for over 50 years of his life. Mr. Wagner came to this area in 1990 from Boynton Beach, Florida.
A retired firefighter, Mr. Wagner had a distinguished 25 year career with the Irvington, New Jersey Fire Department. During the Korean War, he served with the United States Navy. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. While in retirement at Edgewater Landings, he enjoyed fishing, bocce ball and shooting pool. In the Navy, he learned the trade of carpentry which remained a passion throughout his life.
Survivors include a son, Frank Wagner and wife, Ann Zore of Indianapolis, Indiana; two daughters, Donna Wagner-Keil of Destin, Florida, and Dawn Scott and husband, Jeffrey of Stuart, Florida; grandchildren, James and Brian Wagner, Joshua and MaKenna Keil, Jessica Lauren and Kailyn Marie Scott; and sister-in-law, Audrey Wagner of Edgewater. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Edna Wagner, his wife of 64 years, Marge; a brother, Joe; and sister, Dorothy.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 2 at Settle-Wilder Chapel, with Chaplain David Labrador, Florida Hospital Hospice Care officiating. Entombment will follow in Veterans Wall of Honor at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, Edgewater. The family will receive friends from noon to service time at Settle-Wilder New Smyrna Beach Chapel.
