Gerald Robert Bond, 83, of New Smyrna Beach, died Monday, July 16, 2018 at Florida Hospital New Smyrna.
Gerald was born in Bloomingdale, New Jersey. He was the son of Zenas Bond and Ethel Mooney Bond. He retired to New Smyrna Beach in 2005. Gerald was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the National Republican Organization.
He was knowledgeable in many sports, and especially enjoyed football, bowling, and baseball. Gerald played first base for the ENGINEERS, a local team who proudly won a New Jersey State Championship. He loved traveling and socializing with family and friends. His dry, and unexpected sense of humor was enjoyed by all.
Gerald served in the U.S. Army and was a land surveyor by profession. He also was a licensed building contractor. He constructed and remodeled several homes and businesses.
He is survived by his loving wife Ann, of 58 years; a son, Thomas (Jodi) Bond of Winter Springs, Florida; 2 daughters, Kimberly (William) Bolton, II of Plano, Texas and Jennifer Bond of Stuart, Florida; 4 grandsons, Dalton Bond, William Bolton, Andrew Bolton and Bradley Bolton; granddaughter, Heather Bond; 2 sisters, Gail Evans of Walterboro, South Carolina and Jane Bond Escarcega of Forsyth, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Willard Bond.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 27th at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church with the Reverend Patrick Quinn, T.O.R., will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations to Our Lady Star of the Sea Education Fund.
