Howard J. Jenkins

Howard James Jenkins completed his life journey Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Shands Hospital, Gainesville, FL.   He was a lifelong resident of New Smyrna Beach, FL.

He was born June 25, 1963 in New Smyrna Beach, to the late Mr. Alfred Jenkins Sr. and Mrs. Josephine Merrick Jenkins. Howard attended public school in New Smyrna Beach, and received his diploma in 1981.

After graduating, he joined the United States Air Force, and was discharged with military honors.

Howard picked up the nick names “Ice Daddy” and “Cream” from his family and friends.  He met and married the love of his life, Beverly Miller Jenkins and they enjoyed 25 years of love and memories.

He was a member of Apostolic Faith Temple for 26 years and a former member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, and worked numerous custodial jobs in the area to provide for his family. Howard enjoyed church, spending time with his family, football, playing cards, and sharing his various life lessons.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, and son, Britten Polk. He is survived by his devoted loving wife, Beverly Jenkins; two sons, Arthur Lee Bell, and Arais Key; one daughter, Derika Miller; five brothers, Alfred Jenkins, Jr., Dale (Debbie) Jenkins, Reverend Mackey Jenkins, Johnathan (Bridgette) Jenkins, and Jerry Jenkins; three sisters, Thellene Crawford, Margaret Lewis, and Joahn (Adrian) Poole; mother in-law, Margaret Roe; brother-in-law, Blondell Allen; sister-in-laws, Cynthia Render, Maria Roe, and Rosalind (Eric) Dixon; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, loving uncles, aunts, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Apostolic Faith Temple, New Smyrna Beach, with Pastor Walter Hill, Solid Rock of Jesus Only Church, officiating. Burial will be at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, Edgewater. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 21, 2018 at Apostolic Faith Temple.
