Jean Mary Desko, age 89, died Sunday, May 6, at home. Mrs. Desko came to this area in 1984 from her place of birth, Buffalo, New York.
A homemaker, she was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, enjoyed travel, dancing, and fashion. Also, according to her family, she was a great cook.
Survivors include her son, Ronald and wife, Melissa, of New Smyrna Beach; a daughter, Shirley Ziff and husband, Scott of Tonawanda, New York; a sister, Rosemary Saletta of North Carolina; grandchildren, Michael Desko and wife, Brigittte, of Orlando, Sean Desko and wife, Lapita, of New Smyrna Beach, and Stephen, Richie and Daniel Ziff, all of New York; Aaron Ezel and wife, Brittney of Port Orange, Faith Diller of New Smyrna Beach; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 10 at Settle Wilder Chapel with the Redemptorist Fathers of Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiating. Entombment will follow in All Faiths Mausoleum at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday (tonight) at the funeral home.
