Jim Noland

June 11, 1943 ~ June 26, 2017 (age 74) 74 Years Old

Jim Noland, age 74, of New Smyrna Beach, died tragically in an accident Monday, June 26 in Dubois, Wyoming.  Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Jim graduated from McArthur High School in Hollywood and Pratt Community College, Pratt, Kansas.  He came to this area in 1966 from Hollywood.

He owned and operated Noland Car Company, manufacturer of golf carts and other electric vehicles, which he sold in 1987.  He then started Noland Sod Farm.  He also had farms in Iowa and Missouri.

Jim was a member and past commodore of the Anglers Yacht Club; a member of Smyrna Yacht Club and Sugar Mill Country Club; and was a former member of the New Smyrna Beach Municipal Golf Course, where he was past president of the Men’s Golf Association.  A member of New Smyrna Lodge #149, F.& A.M., he was also a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Orlando and Bahia Shrine Club of Orlando.  An avid motorcyclist and restorer, he was a member of the Antique Motorcycle Club and the Harley Owners Group, known as “HOG.”

Survivors include his wife, Betty; two daughters, Carrie Welsh and husband, Greg, and Deanna Ford and husband, Anthony, all of New Smyrna Beach; brother, Dale Noland of Fort Lauderdale; grandchildren, Jimmy Welsh and wife, Elena of New Smyrna Beach, Leann Page and husband, Gabe, of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, and Hannah and Zachary Ford, both of New Smyrna Beach; and great-grandchildren, Avery Sue Welsh of New Smyrna Beach, Julia Piper Page of Camp Lejeune, and Emery Claire Welsh of New Smyrna Beach.

A Masonic memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 8 at Settle-Wilder Chapel, conducted by New Smyrna Lodge #149, F.&A.M.  A reception will follow from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at SoNapa Grille, 3406 South Atlantic Avenue, New Smyrna Beach.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Shriners Hospitals, 12502 USF Pine Drive, Tampa, FL 33612-9411.
