John Joseph Sullivan, age 85, died Monday, April 9th, 2018 at Ocean View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in New Smyrna Beach.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, John served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. John earned a Bachelors degree from Boston University, then went on to earn a Master’s Degree From Penn State. He became a sales manager in publishing for McGraw-Hill. John made a permanent move to New Smyrna Beach in 1996 from Altamonte Springs. He is considered to be “The Great Fisherman” by friends and family and he loved baseball and was a fan of the Boston Red Sox.
John is survived by his wife of fifty eight years, Mary Regina Sullivan; three children, Moira Melaugh (John) of Medfield, Massachusetts, Sean J. Sullivan (Ann) of Branchburg, New Jersey, Mark M. Sullivan (Linda) of Tampa Bay, Florida; two brothers, Gerard (Kathy) Sullivan, and The Reverend Eugene Sullivan; one sister, Mary Bertain; five granddaughters; and one grandson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 16, at the
Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in New Smyrna Beach, with Father Patrick Quinn T.O.R. officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 15, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Settle-Wilder Chapel with a prayer service at 3:45 p.m. lead by The Reverend Eugene Sullivan.
