Kathleen "Kate" Ferris

Kathleen “Kate” Ferris, age 78, died on Monday, October 1, 2018 at her Edgewater residence. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Henry and Mary Kathleen (Walsh) Craig, she came to the area in 1973.

A former interviewing clerk for the state of Florida, Kate was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and ABWA (American Business Women Association). Kate loved baking and was an owner and operator of Upper Crust Bakery on beach side for many years. 

She was very active in the community and would volunteer with the Girl Scouts Troops #1258, and #742. She attended as many sports games for her children and grandchildren as she could, and was always an amazing cheerleader. She enjoyed working with stained glass, and took advantage of any opportunity to travel. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Survivors include three daughters; Kathleen Ann Ferris of Edgewater, Kimberly Marie (Michael) Mitchum of Edgewater, and Patricia Jo Ripa of New Smyrna Beach, two sons; Edward Robert (Michele) Ferris of Edgewater, and John Eric (Michelle) Ferris of Edgewater; three brothers, Henry J. Craig of Pittsburgh, Philip M. Craig of Tenneco, Tennessee, and John A. Craig of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; 14 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. She is preceded by her parents; husband of 53 years, Edward; and sister, Ruth Perrenod.

Celebration of life will be 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Settle-Wilder Chapel in New Smyrna Beach.
