Lois V. Reed

Lois V. Reed, age 79, of New Smyrna Beach, died Friday, August 11, 2017 at Halifax Health Hospice, Edgewater.  

Born to Ivan and Violet (Sine) Transue in Bristol, Pennsylvania, Lois moved to this area 22 years ago from Voorhees, New Jersey.  Lois was a member of Glencoe Baptist Church, New Smyrna Beach. She was a homemaker and volunteer while raising her 3 sons in NJ.  She volunteered for the Voorhees Ambulance Service for over 10 years and worked for Garden State Truck Sales.  After moving to New Smyrna Beach, she volunteered at First Baptist Church for 13 years in the food ministry.  A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; Lois enjoyed crocheting, sewing and making things for less fortunate children, including donating many items for toys for tots with her husband. She and her husband also loved camping with their sons, and traveling the world together.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Joseph J. Reed; 2 sons, Tim Reed and his wife Joan of Lumberton, New Jersey, Mark Reed of Edgewater; a daughter-in-law, Melinda Reed; 8 grandchildren: Tammy, Wayne, Andrew, Samantha, Tyler, Amanda, Mackenzie and Violet; 4 great grandchildren; and a sister, Doris DeRosa. Lois was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Keith Reed; and a sister, Esther Constantine.

Memorial service will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 17 at Glencoe Baptist Church, with pastor Danny Carter officiating.
