Margaret M. Gannon, age 85, of New Smyrna Beach, died Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Hospice Care Center, Edgewater. Born in Allston, Massachusetts to Edward and Margarite Mulvaney, Margaret came to this area 32 years ago from Nashua, New Hampshire.
A former special needs teacher, Margaret was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and a chaplain ladies auxiliary American Legion Post 17. She enjoyed bowling at New Smyrna Lanes, liked quilting and loved to travel. Margaret was a guardian ad litem with Volusia County for several years.
Survivors include 4 daughters, Kathleen (Joseph) Vavruska of Edgewater, Peggy Ann Dube of Milford, New Hampshire, Jean Gannon of Edgewater and Joan (Patrick) Thomas of Neuhemsbach, Germany; her beloved dog Rosie, 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy in 2005, daughter, Eileen Girouard in 2009 and grandson, Christopher Girouard in 2013.
There will not be any local service at this time. Burial will be at a later date at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell Florida.
