Mary Catherine Booth

Mary Catherine Booth, age 98, of New Smyrna Beach, died Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Halifax Heath Hospice, Edgewater. Born in St. Clair, Michigan to Charles and Mary Hendrick Englert on September 26, 1919, Mary Catherine came to the area in 1980 from Marysville, Michigan.

 

A graduate from Port Huron High School, Port Huron, Michigan in 1937, she married Harold A. “Jack” Booth Sr. on December 10, 1937, and they moved to Miami, lived there several years and then made their home in Port Huron and Marysville, Michigan.

 

Mary Catherine was employed at Chrysler MoPar plant and the United States Post Office in Marysville, Michigan.  She loved her family, playing bingo, going to yard sales and making decorative dish towels to sell at her church Bazaar. Mary Catherine also photographed many church activities.

 

She was a member of St. Christopher’s Catholic Church in Marysville, Michigan and Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, New Smyrna Beach.

 

Survivors include her daughter, Carole (Dan) Sylvester of Hessel, Michigan; grandson, T.J. (Jenny) Sylvester; granddaughter, Jacqueline (Patrick) Fraser; great grandchildren, Catherine, Mason, Nathan and Braden Sylvester and Anthony, Michael, Jake Tutera and Kyle Fraser, all of Florida; sister-in-law, Isabelle Englert of Weatherford, Texas and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary; husband of 41 years, Harold “Jack”; stepson, Harold (Jackie) Booth, Jr. And siblings, Jane Louks, Margaret Shaw, Dorothy O’Neill, Annette Vertican, Erma Kasemeyer and Charles (Chuck) Englert, Jr.

 

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 23 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church with the Reverend Patrick Quinn, T.O.R. officiating. Friends will be received on Thursday, March 22 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 3:30 p.m. at Settle-Wilder Chapel.  Interment will be at a later date in  Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville, Michigan.
