Nancy R. Wilder, age 84, of New Smyrna Beach, died Tuesday at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Holyoke, Massachusetts, Nancy came to this area in 1943 and graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School in 1951.
For many years, Nancy and her husband T. C. Wilder owned and operated Settle-Wilder Funeral Home. Before acquiring the business, she worked at the Bank of New Smyrna. After selling the funeral home, she worked at H&R Block. She was a member, lay leader, and former treasurer at First United Methodist Church of New Smyrna Beach; past president of the Junior Woman’s Club where she was once Woman of the Year; past president of the Oceanside Woman’s Club; member of Beta Delta Chapter, Beta Sigma Phi; member and Past Worthy Matron of New Smyrna Chapter #3, Order of the Eastern Star from which she became Grand Chaplain and District Deputy for the State of Florida and Mother Advisor for the Rainbow Girls; active with the PTA; and a 50 year member of SNPJ #603, Samsula.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, T. C. Wilder, Jr.; sons, Larry of Ormond Beach and John (Linda) of El Paso, Texas; daughter, Cynthia Wilder of Sanford; sister, Carole Eckard of Port Orange; and grandchildren, Stacey Wilder of Jacksonville, Abigail, Elaina, and Samuel Wilder, all of El Paso.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 3 at First United Methodist Church, with the Reverend Larry Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Edgewater-New Smyrna Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church.
