Rosa Lee Shedrick Wood

Rosa L. (Shedrick) Wood, 84, a life-long resident of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, completed her life journey and transitioned into a more perfect life on Thursday, April 20, 2017. 

She was born October 25, 1932 to Cardell Shedrick and Victoria Roundtree Shedrick and was one of 15 children born into the Shedrick family. Rosa attended school in Emanuel County, Georgia and was united in Holy Matrimony to Jim Wood Jr.

Survivors include three sons, Claude (Emma) Shedrick, New Smyrna Beach, Florida, Willie (Annie) Wood, Oak Hill, Florida, James (Carrie) Wood, Jonesboro, Georgia; seven daughters, Kathy Wood, Macon, Georgia, Patricia (Robert) Walker, Jr. and Elaine Wood, both of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, Rosialinda Wood, Tallahassee, Florida, Marvella (Robert) Roland, Daytona Beach, Florida, Patricia (Ellis) Brown, Titusville, Florida, Alzie (John) Merrick, Oak Hill, Florida; two grandchildren she raised, Tamika Fuller Brown, Atlanta, Georgia, Brian (Rodassa) Hives, Edgewater, Florida; one sister, Jewel Wadley, West Palm Beach, Florida; 28 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Ella Smith, Ruth Evans, and Toreatha Wood, all of Oak Hill, Florida; one ex-sister-in-law, Helen (Harrison) Williams, Oconee, Georgia, two God daughters, Zobera Nesbitt and Tammy Hill Williams; and three extended grandchildren. Rosa was preceded in death by her husband and one son, Johnny Lee Shedrick.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Apostolic Faith Temple, 300 Milford Place, New Smyrna Beach. Family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 28, 2017 at Helping Hands Ministry of Hope, 441 Sheldon St., New Smyrna Beach. Interment will follow the service at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, Edgewater. Repast will be at the Bibleway Church of God in Christ, 281 Flamingo Road, New Smyrna Beach.
