Stanley “Stan” E. Stern, age 63, of New Smyrna Beach, died at his home on Friday, November 3, 2017. Born in Sudbury, MA, Stan moved to FL 12 years ago from Dryfork, VA.
The previous owner of Stan Stern Salvage Company was a proud member of the Lonesome Losers social club, and extended his friendly smile and conversation to everyone who crossed his path. He had an open door policy at his house, and enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and the rare stranger he hadn't made friends with YET.
Survivors include a daughter, Shana (Peter) Rezac of Sterling, MA; three sons, Jason Falls, Justin (Amanda) Falls, and David (Ashley) Carr; a brother, Sam (Diane) Stern; 6 sisters, Sue (Roger) MacPhee, Sheila (John McNamara) Stern, Sharon (Bo) Sheffey, Sylvia (Dave) Spury, Shayne (John) Rutherford, and Sherry (Steve) Dunlop; 9 grandchildren; a very large extended family; and myriad friends up and down the Eastern Seaboard. Stan was preceded in death by his son, Stanley E. Stern, Jr., who died earlier this year.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home, with the Pastor Mark Martin and the Pastor Kenneth MacPhee officiating. Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., at the funeral home, and a reception will follow at Stan's house on Lettuce Lane, New Smyrna. Burial will be at a later date in Serenity Gardens Memorial Park, Largo, Florida.
