Stephanie Merrick-Brooks Obituary

Stephanie completed her life journey on Sunday, March 11, 2018.
Stephanie Delola Merrick was born on February 20, 1968 in New Smyrna Beach, at Fish Memorial Hospital to Samuel and Arleatha Wood Merrick (predeceased). She was one of seven children.
Stephanie joined St. Martha Missionary Baptist Church at an early age under the Pastoral ship of her grandfather, the late, Reverend E. L. Merrick. She loved the Lord and would quote scriptures often while talking to her sister to keep her focused.
Stephanie was educated in the Volusia County Public School System and received her high school diploma from New Smyrna Beach High School in 1986. She was a lifelong resident of Volusia County and a proud Oak Hillian. On July 22, 1987, Stephanie married Jerome Brooks. They knew each other from school and they were in the same social circles.
Stephanie later earned an AS degree in nursing from Daytona Beach Community College. She enjoyed cooking, reading, listening to music, gardening, and being around family and friends. She liked having fun.  
Stephanie worked in many trades and professions.  She worked with people of all ages. Stephanie was an amazing woman, person, friend, daughter, aunt, sister, a devoted wife and an awesome nurse.  She touched many lives and she will truly be missed.Stephanie was preceded in death by her mother Arleatha and brother Marc Antony Merrick. She is survived by her devoted husband Jerome Brooks of Oak Hill; her father, Samuel Merrick of Oak Hill, and four brothers: Derrall (Esther) Merrick of Oak Hill; Brian Scott (Sharon) Merrick of Orlando; Sherwin (Tracy) of Edgewater; Troy (Heather) Merrick of Oak Hill; one sister: Caryn Merrick of Oak Hill; mother in-law: Marva Harris of New Smyrna Beach; brother in-law: Steve (Cheryl) of Cocoa; sisters in-law: Merdice (Jerry) of Orlando; Mary Ann (Vince) of Daytona Beach; six uncles: Emzy Merrick of New Smyrna Beach; James Merrick, John (Alzie) Merrick, Willie (Annie) Wood all of Oak Hill; James (Carrie) Wood of Jonesboro, Georgia; Felton Brooks of New Smyrna Beach; aunts: Toreatha Wood, Liller Jean Williams, Ruth Evans, Ella Smith, all of Oak Hill; Patricia Benjamin of New Smyrna Beach; Teretha Brooks of Jacksonville; several godchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Celebration of life will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 31 at Apostolic Faith Temple with the Reverend Dr. Herbert McGraw officiating. Burial will follow at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, Edgewater.
