William Henry Shutze

William Henry Shutze M.D., age 84, died Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center.

Born September 15, 1933 in Imperial, Nebraska to John Henry and Mary Ellen (Develin) Shutze. Dr. Shutze came to the area in the late 90's from Leesburg, Florida. Graduating from Creighton University, he practiced clinical pathology in the Lake county area for 40 years. He established one of the first freestanding clinical laboratories in the state of Florida. Past president of the Florida Blood Banking Society, he was also the Chief Medical Examiner of District 5 for over 20 years.

A member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, and the Smyrna Yacht Club, he enjoyed playing bridge with his many friends of the area. Dr. Shutze enjoyed traveling around the world with his beloved late wife Margaret of 55 years.

Survivors include one son, Dr. William Shutze; two daughters, Dr.Susan Rendon, and Anne Shutze; four grandchildren, Rachel, Spencer, William, and Ryan. A special thank you to his caregivers, Erin, Ashley, and Crystal for their wonderful care over the years. He is preceded in death by his parents, and loving wife Margaret.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. at the graveside on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, 3001 S. U.S. Highway 1, Edgewater, Florida, 32141, with Father J. Patrick Quinn, T.O.R. of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church officiating.
