Alfred M. Schmitz

Alfred M. Schmitz, age 94, of Edgewater, died Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at his residence. Born in Manitowoc, Wisconsin to Max and Stella Schindel Schmitz, Alfred came to the area in 2000 from Wisconsin when he purchased a home and every year for 5 years was back and forth until when he finally settled in 2005.

A retired machinist supervisor, he was a United States Army Korean War veteran. Alfred was a member of the VFW Post 3282, DAV, HOG, Eagles, American Legion, UFAA (United Filipino American Association). He was an outdoors man and liked camping, fishing and everything outdoors. Alfred was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather that will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife of 12 years, 5months, Luana; 2 daughters, MaryJo (Russell) Rick, of Manitowoc, Wisconsin; and Julie Ann Schmitz, of Appleton, Wisconsin; 2 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims. Friends will be received on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, June 21, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home.
