Ann-Louise Orman, age 95, died Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Halifax Health Hospice, Edgewater. Born in Bronx, New York to Paul and Emma Quenzer Haussmann, Ann-Louise came to the area in 1995 from North Salem, NY.
Ann-Louise graduated from Dennison University in Granville, Ohio where she majored in education and minored in religion. She began her career as an elementary school teacher and a substitute teacher in Tuckahoe, NY. She met her late husband, Donald A. Orman, at the First Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, NY and they were married May 6, 1961. Ann-Louise then relocated to North Salem, NY. She was the treasurer of The Women’s Society at Lake Mahopac United Methodist Church where she attended for many years, taught Sunday School, served as a Youth Group leader, and also managed to find the time to serve as a Girl Scout Troop leader. After she retired from teaching, she worked for the Town of North Salem, where she was the Deputy Receiver of Taxes and later ran and was elected to the position of Receiver of Taxes for the Town of North Salem. Once fully retired, Ann-Louise moved to Florida with Donald where they enjoyed going on cruises, ballroom dancing, playing tennis, and spending time with family. She also enjoyed cooking and reading, visiting with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and staying in touch with family using her iPad. She was known for her joyful, positive attitude and her Christ-centered life.
Survivors include two children, Wendy L. Barrett, and Gail G. (William) Fraser; grandchildren, Austin L. (Brina) Barrett, and Michael P. (Shannell) Barrett; and great grandchildren, Landon I. Barrett and Calyne F. Barrett.
Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday March 5, 2025 at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Tyler J. Peacock Sr., Relationship Alliance Church.
