Barbara A. Brown

Barbara Ann Brown, age 82 , died Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at her residence. Born in Jamaica Queens, New York to Jean Emile and Paulette Anna Chenlot Bretey, Barbara came to the area 27 years ago from Babylon Long Island, New York.

A homemaker, she was a member at First NSB - A Family Church and was very involved in her church. Barbara was a soloist, sang in the church choir, and painted sets and scenes at church. She enjoyed chairobics, quilting, crafts, toll painting, and collecting shells. Barbara adored her grandchildren and loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her three children, Scott (Stella) Brown; Wendy (Phelps) Prescott, and Debbie (Steven) Van Cleemput; grandchildren, Daniel (Dr. Kirsten) and Rebekah Brown; Brian and Michelle Prescott; Amanda, Emily, Matthew Van Cleemput; and her dog, Belle. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, James Brown in 2005; brother, Jean Bretey; and sister, Paulette McNamara.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 25, 2023 at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home with Pastor Luke McKinney, First NSB - A Family Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens. Friends will be received on Thursday, August 24, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home.
