Barbara A. Monhollon

Barbara A. Monhollon, 81, of New Smyrna Beach, FL passed away on March 20, 2021. She was born in Austin, MN on July 9, 1939. Barbara is survived by her three daughters Anita, Robin, and Michele and nine grandchildren Kyle, Rachel, Jake, Jordan, Mitchell, Jared, Kevin, Derek, Justin and two great grandchildren McKynzie and Parker.

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Larry Monhollon, as well as her parents Charles and Adelaide Blank. She grew up in Chicago, IL and attended college at Morehead State University in Kentucky. In college, Barbara met her husband, Larry Ernest and were married on September 2, 1959.

Following her studies at Morehead State University, Barbara received her degree in Elementary Education at Nova Southeastern University. At first, Barbara started working as a bank teller eventually switching over to elementary education shortly thereafter. Larry, Barbara, and their three daughters moved to New Smyrna Beach in 1975 where the couple resided for the remainder of their lives.   

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that you give a one-time charitable contribution to Coastal Boxer Rescue (coastalboxers.org) where Barbara and Larry rescued their most recent boxer, Jimbo.

For those who would like to attend, a closed casket viewing will be held on Friday, April 2nd from 6:00-8:00pm at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home in New Smyrna Beach, FL. The funeral service will take place at Bella Vista Baptist Church in Edgewater, FL on Saturday, April 3rd at 11:00am. A “Celebration of Life” will follow, where family and friends are encouraged to share memories of Barbara.
