Barry Nute Obituary

Barry Nolan Nute, 80, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, passed away on Monday, January 12th, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 7th, 1945 to Lawrence and Mildred (Kohnke) Nute.


He is preceded in death by his parents.


Barry is survived by his wife of 22 years, Vicki (Gugeler) Nute of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; brothers, Craig (Cathy) Nute of Foley, Missouri, and Brian Nute of Yuma, Arizona; sons, Eric (Cindy) Nute of Wentzville, Missouri, Ryan (Heather) Nute of Wright City, Missouri, Kyle Nute of St Peters, Missouri, and daughter, Lisa Green of Aurora, Illinois; mother-in-law, Fern Murray of Montgomery, Texas; sisters-in-law, Donna Farella of New Smyrna Beach, Florida and Rhonda (Mark) Lewis of Montgomery, Texas; brother-in-law, Mike (Tina) Gugeler of Erie, Colorado; grandchildren, Emilee, Brandon, Cameron, Morgan, Lexi, Emme; nieces, Ashleigh and Lauren (Stephan); niece Shannon (Eliott) and nephews, Taylor (Tyler), Travis (Jess), and Colin.


During his lifetime, Barry served his country valiantly in the United States Army. Upon his honorable discharge, Barry worked as a Fueler and Fleet Service Representative for 33 years at Trans World Airlines and American Airlines in Chicago and St. Louis before retiring and moving to New Smyrna Beach in 2003. He loved auto racing (Jeff Gordon was his favorite NASCAR driver), Corvettes and traveling.


Per his wishes cremation will be accorded and all services will be at a later date.


Memorials may be made in Barry's memory to American Diabetes Association.
