Benson Ray Tart, age 77, died Saturday, September 23, 2023 at his care givers home in Jacksonville. Born in Sanford to Joseph Frank and Ethel Hirt Tart, Benson was raised in Florida all of his life.
A United States Navy veteran, Benson worked for Florida Highway Patrol for ten years. Benny also worked for the Florida Department of Transportation, Motor Carrier Compliance for several years. He was a member of Servants’ Quarters Fellowship, and was a pastor for over 30 years. Benson was a graduate of Trinity Bible College. He loved preaching, witnessing, comforting and helping people. His life was ministry, and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his brother, Marcel (Elizabeth) Tart; nephew, Trevor (Nichole) Tart; nieces, Shauna Gail Chambers (Robbie), and Kimberly (David) Caro; nephews, Christopher (Amanda) Tart and Joel (Sandy) Tart. Benson was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Joe Frank Tart.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 29, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Osteen, with the Reverend Dr. David Starkey, Servants’ Quarters Fellowship, officiating. Burial will follow at Osteen Cemetery with Pastor Emery King, officiating. Friends will be received on Friday, September 29, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Osteen.
