Burt Bauer Obituary

Burt Irwin Bauer, born on August 15, 1956, in Pasadena, California, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025 surrounded by loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Albert Bauer; mother, Audrey Bauer; twin sister, Barbara; and father-in-law, Andy Dyer.

Burt is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Susan Bauer; his son, Luke Bauer, and wife Brittney, with a grandson on the way, Archie Beau; and his daughter, Hannah Bauer, along with his cherished granddaughter, Aria Rose. He is also survived by two cousins, Steve Schnitker and Cheri Schnitker; his beloved mother-in-law, Joan Dyer; and sister-in-law, Sharon Dyer.  Burt’s extended family includes Brad and Vonda Dyer, Linda and Rick Norman, Karen and Greg Ray, Tim and Charlotte Dyer, as well as many nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.

Burt attended New Smyrna Beach High School before continuing his education at Daytona Beach Community College and Stetson University. He earned degrees in Accounting, Architectural Drafting & Design, and Liberal Arts. Burt built a successful career in accounting with Brent Millikan & Co., later known as BMC CPAs, where he remained a dedicated employee.

Burt found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He had a passion for muscle cars, firearms, boating, and cheering on the Orlando Magic. Above all else, he treasured time spent with his granddaughter Aria—affectionately nicknamed “Little Squirt.” Burt also loved the North Georgia Mountains in Blairsville and eagerly anticipated spending more time there after retirement.

A funeral service will be held at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home, 406 S. Orange St., New Smyrna Beach, on February 1st at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Larry Husebo.

Burt’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.  Rest in peace my Love!  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Southeast Volusia Humane Society, 1200 S. Glencoe Road, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168.
